It looks like Lakers star LeBron James will step back into his old ways with the announcement that he will be switching his jersey number from number 23, back to number 6.

The reported change will come next season, following the release of the ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy,’ which is slated to drop next month on July 16th. According to The Atheltic and Yahoo Sports, the upcoming sequel features James in a number 6 Tune Squad jersey. As fellow Laker Anthony Davis previously donned 23 before making the switch when joining the Los Angeles team, it is also being reported that Davis will stick with his number 3 jersey.

Both James and Davis had hinted at changing their jersey numbers prior to 2019, but Nike had already produced too many 23 jerseys, not to mention the Lakers missed the swap deadline, and the Lake Show won the 2020 title.

The jersey news comes just in time for the latest Space Jam trailer, which also dropped today. Check it out below!
