Usually everyone loves a successful April Fool’s Day joke, as most of us fall for simple pranks and situations that we are certain some of our friends can actually get themselves into. But, sadly, this morning, veteran producer and rapper DJ Quik might have missed the memo on the climate of poorly timed jokes.

The LA hip-hop legend took to his Instagram account early this morning to share that he was on his way to the hospital following his car being shot at and he sustained to injuries. “I’m on my way to the hospital,” he typed to his IG Story. “Someone just shot into my car 7-10 times on the freeway I got hit twice. Pray for me.” Naturally, fans and peers reacted with shock and concern before Quik returned back to his official social media account to let the cat out of the bag and somewhat pat himself on the back.

In two follow-up posts, Quik notifies everyone about the April Fool’s prank and announces that someone needs to “top” his joke. “April Fool’s Day. Now, y’all gotta top that. I got y’all. That was a good one. Damn, I impressed myself with that. Yeah, no … Happy April Fool’s Day. Love y’all. I’m good.”

Of course the internet did not appreciate the early morning antics and did not hold back on the vet emcee.
