Back in 2017, Jay-Z pulled his music out of streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify and anything that competed with TIDAL. However, it seems like an unexpected change occurred, as it saw Jay bring his catalog back to the Apple brand. With that said, the Brooklyn rapper currently has the albums listed under his S. Carter Enterprises, LLC brand with distribution by Roc Nation.

It’s still unclear as to why Jay returned his albums back to Apple Music after two years, however, it does not include his critically-acclaimed debut album, Reasonable Doubt. It is also unclear as to why the albums haven’t returned to Spotify yet, but considering this change, it’s still a possibility. The change seems to have been a matter of time as both Jay-Z and Beyonce released their joint project, Everything Is Love back in 2018 on all platforms, just a few days after the TIDAL exclusive. Beyonce’s Lemonade album was also made available on all platforms following the release of her Netflix documentary, Homecoming.

The addition of both Jay and Bey’s catalogs greatly benefits the fans who do not have the TIDAL service at the moment. However, this may prove to be another difficult step for TIDAL, as Spotify and Apple Music continue to be the main streaming sources currently available.
