Aretha Franklin’s Estate Needs To Reportedly Sell Property to Pay $5.2 Million Tax Debt

Aretha Franklin’s loss was felt throughout the music industry and with her fans. The Queen of Soul passed away in her Detroit mansion, and it seemed as if everything was in order financially following her passing. However, according to The Blast, her estate has had issues settling the debt from the iconic singer.

According to the report, Franklin owed a tax debt of $5.2 million and her estate is looking to sell some of her property to pay off the huge amount. One of the properties that would be sold would be a vacant lot in Michigan that could be offered up for $1.4 million.

The original debt was about $6.3 million, so the estate have managed to get rid of some of the debt. However, the estate is still hoping for the judge to sign off as soon as possible in order to sell more of the property.
