Tha Chill from the legendary West Coast group Compton’s Most Wanted stopped by to talk with 935 KDay’s Noah Ayala. During the interview, Chill discusses his new album ‘4wit80’, his group Compton’s Most Wanted, and his thoughts on Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Speaking on the origins of Compton’s Most Wanted, Chill says that he’s known group member MC Eiht since he was a kid.

Me and Eiht, we hooked up when we was probably every bit of 12 years-old. That’s my dog,you know what I’m saying. You know, it was “church relevant” and “Aunties relevant.” We was at Compton College, which is El Camino now, and they call itself working out, walking the track. And we was just them rebellious little kids like. ‘Im not walking no track, I’m about to sit in these bleachers and beat on the bleachers some E.P.M.D. You know we had that in common. Little freestyles and busting, and you know, we just kept it cool from there.

Chill tells Noah about the early record label scams the group faced which left the members being conned into a contract that was less worth than they originally signed the deal for. Signed to the same label as Jay Z, Chill compared his status, at the time, to the New York rapper who has since become a legendary fixture and voice in the culture.

The rapper also shares his journey being incarcerated, talks the current state of rappers and the culture of hip hop, as well as speaks on comments comparing Tekashi 6ix9ine to Suge Knight.
