A couple R. Kelly fans may have stopped supporting the artist this past week due to his short performance. According to local Springfield, Illinois news stations, WICS and WRSP, Kelly showed up at 1:30 a.m. for a club appearance at a lounge that closes at 3 a.m.

The singer was intended to show up at midnight, but when he got there late, he reportedly spent over half an hour interacting with fans. He is said to have then grabbed the microphone and deliver a performance lasting less than 30 seconds. Kelly reportedly sang one line before thanking the 100 fans in attendance.

A couple fans expressed their disappointment considering the tickets were going for $100, but decreased to $50 when he showed up.

Considering many venues and promoters aren’t willing to book the singer, this isn’t the greatest of looks for him. Earlier that day he even asked media to “take it easy” on him because it’s his only source of income.

“I got an event to do tonight in Springfield, Illinois,” he says. “So, I want the media to take it easy on me, man. This is how I gotta get paid now. So, I gotta go do this event and it’s a party. So, when you see me in the club with a couple of drinks in my hand and chilling, please take it easy.”
