Omar Epps Talks About Tupac Getting Inspiration For “Brenda’s Got A Baby” On Set Of Juice

During a recent interview with Yahoo to promote his new movie Traffik, Omar Epps talked about the time Tupac gathered inspiration for “Brenda’s Got A Baby” on the set of Juice.

At the time of filming Juice, Tupac was also recording his first album, 2Pacalypse Now. Epps went on to mention Pac’s process on gaining inspiration for the making of the album.

“We get to set one morning, and we’re reading the papers. A woman had thrown a baby in the trash, which is horrible, right? So Pac was just so bothered by that, and by lunchtime, he was like, ‘Hey, come in the trailer.’ He starts rapping this song, and I’m listening, and I’m like, ‘All right, that’s cool.’ And a couple months later ‘Brenda’s Got a Baby’ comes out.” Epps said.

The track rapidly made its way to the No. 7 spot on the Billboard‘s rap charts, making it one of Pac’s first hits.
