Lil Wayne Threatened Over “New Dirty Bastard” Trademark

Back in June, Lil Wayne reportedly filed documents to trademark the name, “New Dirty Bastard.” Although the reason for filing documents to trademark the name was unclear, it’s said to be done for music production and for his many entertainment ventures. The name comes from late Wu-Tang Clan member, Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Earlier this year, ODB’s daughter and the attorney for their estate said they were willing to speak to Wayne and Young Money on the possibility of using the name, however, it seems like they’ve pulled from discussing this possibility entirely.

According to The Blast, Wayne was legally threatened over using the name, as the states says they own the “full right, title, and interest in and to the name and likeness” of anything related to ODB.

It is also reported that ODB’s family is looking to release new projects and products, so using the name “New Dirty Bastard” might cause damage and confusion.
