The world and hip-hop community honored and celebrated what would have been the late legend 2Pac’s 50th birthday just this past June, and while Pac’s legacy lives with us through his music and inspiration through entertainment, the work that is being done behind the scenes in the perseverance of Pac’s impact is headed by Pac’s family and the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation.

Founded back in 1997, by the late Afeni Shakur, the TASF social justice and mental health initiatives are currently keeping Afeni’s mission and 2Pac’s messages alive through their 2021 50 For 50 campaign. In an exclusive interview with Hip Hop DX, Malik Shakur, Pac’s nephew, told the publication, “Our goal for the campaign is to just further their legacies by creating solidarity networks, funding mutual aid, supporting the mental and physical wellness and development of our communities.”

Malik also shared that the campaign is working to “acquire 50 acres of land in 50 states to establish wellness centers, peace gardens and safe houses to people who don’t have that ability in any of those states.”
