Nas is without a doubt a hip-hop legend as the New York native has cemented his legacy and continues to release new music with the recent ‘King’s Disease’ album and appearance on the Judas and The Black Messiah soundtrack.

The veteran rapper sat down with Financial Times for an interview where he shared his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop where he expressed he’s not as thrilled with the artists of today. Speaking on contemporary rap, Nas says, “I appreciate what’s out there, but there’s no one keeping me up at night.” He continues, “I hear a new rap record and think it’s great, but I don’t listen to it the next week.” Although Nas hasn’t been impressed much, he did reveal that the late Pop Smoke was a “breath of fresh air” for the culture.

There’s no denying that hip-hop has changed throughout the years, but do you agree with Nas that there isn’t anyone in contemporary rap that is making an impact?
