Kanye West, Kobe Bryant, Common & More Buy Out Theatres Screening “Just Mercy”

Just Mercy’ opened nationwide on Friday, January 10th and it’s raving with critical acclaim. The movie follows a Harvard-graduate lawyer, Bryan Stevenson (played by Michael B. Jordan), who founded the Equal Justice Initiative, and is looking to defend those who wrongly condemned or without proper representation. One of his first cases involves a man named Walter McMillian who has been sentenced to death after being wrongfully accused of murdering a white woman. The movie also features the likes of Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and many more.

Many celebrities have resonated with the story so much and appreciated the message that they’re buying out theaters for screenings of the film. These stars include Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Kobe Bryant, Common, John Legend, Lena Waithe, Common and many more. Many companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, and Goldman Sachs also given money for these screenings, with entire sports teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and the Atlanta Falcons doing so as well.
