Check Out The Cast of Salt-N-Pepa’s Biopic

Lifetime will be kicking off the biopic of Salt-N-Pepa to immortalize the rap duo. The film is set to chronicle the careers of Cheryl ”Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton , and Deidra “Dj Spinderella” Roper. The roles have been casted by actresses GG Newton and Laila Odom, portraying the duo along with Monique Paul who will, respectively, play Spinderella.

Other featured artists on the film will include Jermel Howard who will portray rapper “Treach”. Treach and Pepa would get married in 1999 than later filed for divorce in 2001. Cleveland Berto will also join in as Hurby Azor who took on a significant role in Salt-N-Pepa’s debut.

The story follows as two Queensborough College students falling into the world of rap and hip-hop after recording their hit single in 1987 “Push it” for their friend Hurby Azor. Salt-N-Pepa broke barriers in the industry being amongst one of the first female rap groups talking about sex, and voicing their opinions on men, then later reaching platinum status, to ultimately win a Grammy.
