It’s safe to say that The Lion King is one of the most anticipated films of the past couple of years. Considering the stellar line-up for the film, this upcoming weekend is set to bring in a lot of money for the Disney film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film could earn approximately $150 million or more for its debut in the United States.

Just last week, the movie earned around $54 million for its debut in China. Globally, the movie is expected to make up to $400 million to $450 million dollars.

With this, The Lion King will undoubtedly have one of the biggest opening weekends of 2019 in the United States. Other films that rival for the top spot include: Avengers: Endgame with the all-time record of $357 million in its opening weekend, Captain Marvel with just over $153 million and Toy Story 4 with nearly $121 million. Even if The Lion King under performs, it’s still expected to land in the top-three this year.
