LeBron James was recently told by the Lakers that he would not be playing anymore games this season. With the team already out of a playoff spot, they’ve decided to let their star rest due to a sustained groin injury. Although the Lakers would probably want him to rest up, he would most likely be able to play the FIBA World Cup this summer. According to The Athletic, it looks like he has other plans outside of the sport.

The publication states that Space Jam 2 will begin filming this Summer and James will be will simply not have time for Team USA. James did explain that this has nothing to do with head coach Gregg Popovich, which was the reason many thought he pulled out.

“I love everything about Pop, obviously, but this is not a good summer for me,” James said.

The Laker star also went on to say that he’s not ruling out the 2020 Olympics.

“Yeah, that’s a possibility. It depends on how I feel. I love the Olympics,” James said.

Space Jam 2 is set to be released in theaters on July 2021.
