Yasiin Bey has kept a relatively-low profile since announcing his retirement a couple months back. However, he’s now gone on to mention that he has two more albums already done: Negus in Natural Person and As Promised.
Steven Julien, of the group Funkineven, shared the news of the new album. On Saturday he mentioned how Yasiin shortened the name of the first of two albums to simply read as: Negus. However, it was mentioned that the album would not have a typical release. As of now, there will be no streaming options or CD for the product’s launch.
The album will be available for the live audiences attending the media installation at the Art Basel in Hong Kong. A recent event in New York helped explain Bey’s decisions. With writer Ann Binlot in attendance, she said that his decisions were due to “society’s inability to focus on anything because of technology.”
