According to Rolling Stone, Michael Jackson’s estate is currently in the process of putting together a story-line for a Broadway musical. It is reported that there will be multiple hits from one of his best-selling albums, Thriller. In 2008, “Thriller – Live” debuted in London to positive reviews and also featured music from the Jackson 5.
There are still claims of multiple publications using Jackson’s music without clearing it first, so this might take a while to happen. His estate claimed ABC violated its “intellectual property rights” by using some of Jackson’s music.
“Imagine if this was done with any of ABC’s intellectual property,” the statement reads. “We believe the special to be another crass and unauthorized attempt to exploit the life, music and image of Michael Jackson without respect for Michael’s legacy, intellectual property rights or his children.”
The show is reported to premiere in 2020.
