The influence of Wu-Tang Clan’s, Ol’ Dirty Bastard can still be felt to this day. Rappers have imitated flows and the style ODB had, but have failed to reach his iconic status. For example, Lil Wayne is obviously a fan and is reportedly trying to trademark “New Dirty Bastard” for himself.

According to The Blast, Young Money Entertainment has filed documents requesting to trademark the name for use in music production and other ventures. It’s not clear what the label will use the name for at the moment.

ODB passed away from an accidental drug overdose in 2004, but this might be one way to keep his legacy and name going. The family of ODB is also willing to work with the label, as long as it doesn’t tarnish the Wu member’s legacy.
