Black Panther is praised for its treatment of women characters with genius Shuri, the warrior Okoye, and revolutionary Nakia being main characters in the movie. There has been a campaign for Shuri to take over the Black Panther character in the future and it turns out Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is all for it.
“That would be amazing if the opportunity came up,” said Coogler about the idea of an all-women Black Panther film. “They did it in the comic book version,” he continued, likely referring to World of Wakanda, which followed the Dora Milaje, or the time Shuri became the Black Panther.
“We have these actresses who could easily carry their own movie,” he said referring to Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Letitia Wright. “Some of them have before. We were so fortunate. I would watch a movie with them!” Let me tell you Coogler, we would too.
