Hip Hop Queens Salt-n-Pepa To Receive Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Hip Hop queens Salt-N-Pepa are going to receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame  Friday, November 4.  The ladies changed the industry and pushed the limits raping about their sexuality with their album, 1990’s ‘Blacks’ Magic.’ The music empowered women with anthems like “Expression,” “Independent” and “Let’s Talk About Sex.” but “None of Your Business” is what earned them the Grammy, for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, in 1995. These ladies created the lane for female rappers like  Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion.

“This upcoming star ceremony honoring Hip-Hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa will honor the amazing 80s music we all love and so many grew up with!” said Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez. “We’re placing these ladies of Hip Hop royalty adjacent to Amoeba Music and right next to the Walk of Fame star of another Queen of Hip Hop, Missy Elliott!” she added.

Missy Elliott took to Twitter to express her excitement “What a Blessing to be beside Salt & Pepa who inspired me to Rap,” Missy wrote. “My sisters for over 2 Decades! & they took a lot of Criticism coming in this game to make the female emcees after they walk through the door a lot easier Thank you S&P RESPECT.”

Fellow female MCs Roxanne Shanté and MC Lyte will be on hand to speak at the ceremony.
