Earlier this week, hip-hop celebrated the life and legacy of the late Marcel Theo Hall, most notably known as the great Biz Markie.

BET streamed the emotional memorial, in which close friends and artists like Roxanne Shante and Montell Jordan, all shared their touching messages for the late icon. As the rapper sadly passed away just a few weeks ago, due to diabetes complications, there has been an outpouring of love and support shown to Biz’s family. Not only was it revealed that Fat Joe called to check on the “Nobody Beats The Biz” emcee every week prior to his passing, the Obamas recently shared their condolences with the late rapper’s widow.

Former President and First Lady Barack Obama and Michelle Obama sent Tara Hall a letter remembering the BIz. In the letter, the revered couple explains, “We didn’t know Biz Markie as long or as well as you or your loved ones did. But like others who admired him, he holds a special place in our heart’s as one of rap’s most innovative stylists and as a great man.”

The letter shared to TMZ by Hall was sent to her unsolicited last week and she says she was stunned to have received anything at all.

RIH Biz!
