
In an extremely emotional and revealing segment of the BET Chronicles series, which follows the road of the iconic Ruff Ryders, rapper DMX’s life struggles was brought to the forefront. While X has endured a lot throughout his life, ultimately creating timeless music, it was much of his childhood trauma that has continued to haunt the talented star.
X grew up being abused by his mother and her boyfriends as a child, was sent to a boys’ home where he wandered the streets and as an adult DMX struggled with addiction and incarceration. In the latest episode of Ruff Ryders Chronicles, DMX, real name Earl Simmons, discussed having various personalities that has helped him get through much of his life. When asked by a show producer if there were parts of himself that helped him cope, X answers, “Yes. They’re different things… There’s a few things, a few people in me and they get me through life.”
