Dayton, Ohio tragically suffered one of the biggest mass shootings this year, as a 24-year-old opened fire and murdered nine people and injured another 17. Many people have showed their love and respect to the families of those who have lost a loved one, including Dave Chappelle.

The comedian grew up 20 miles from Dayton in the town of Yellow Springs, Ohio, where his family currently lives today. Chappelle is reportedly hosting a block party in the Oregon District of Dayton.

According to the Facebook promo page, “This event will honor the lives lost and to reclaim the community’s favorite places to shop, dine and enjoy time with family and friends. There will be several ways for attendees to contribute to both The Dayton Foundation’s Oregon District Tragedy Fund and Oregon District Business Association, which is assisting local businesses with recovery.”

The event is free and only available to residents of Dayton, however, if the attendee donates $20, they will get a free shirt. People that attend the show are also encouraged to put their phones down and enjoy the moment.
