The Saw franchise has become one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. When it was announced that a new Saw movie was in the works, Lionsgate announced that the movie would be dropping on October 2020. However, the company has announced that Chris Rock’s Saw reboot will be pushed up by five months to May 15, 2020.

The upcoming Saw movie has been moved into the summer slot after early footage surfaced from the set of the film in Toronto. In the film, Rock will play a police detective investigating a series of crimes. Samuel L. Jackson will play as Rock’s father.

Saw has been highly profitable for Lionsgate, having grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide. The latest installment of the series was 2017’s “Jigsaw,” which brought in $100 million worldwide.
