In a recent sit-down with A.S.C.A.P.’s I Create Music Expo, The Roots’ Questlove talked about his career and a dark period in his life. The drummer talked about he stepped away from music following the death of his friend and legendary producer, J Dilla.
“When he passed away that really hit me super hard. I stopped making music. Unless it was a Roots album, I pretty much had stopped working and collaborating with other people,” He said.
Questlove went on to talk about Dilla’s natural ability for production, stating that the late producer was one-of-a-kind.
Dilla’s latest posthumous album, “Motor City” dropped back in 2017.
