Throughout the years, Michael Jackson’s estate has continuously combated the sexual abuse allegation toward minors, especially since HBO’s Leaving Neverland was released. It’s now being reported that Jackson’s children have launched a private investigation against the accusers, with the nephew looking to produce his own film on the late singer. Michael Jackson’s name is currently attached to an elementary school auditorium. Although this may be problematic, parents in the Hollywood school have decided to keep Jackson’s name for the auditorium.

Parents of nearly 400 students in Gardener Street Elementary School voted on whether or not to keep Jackson’s name attached to the school. A statement by LAUSD was issued stating that, “A majority of those who participated voted to maintain the current name as the Michael Jackson Auditorium. School leaders, teachers and support staff will focus on preventing any further disruptions to the school and further impact to classroom instruction, student learning, and safety.”

Jackson’s name was given to the auditorium as a way to honor him, as he had briefly attended the school in sixth grade. LAUSD has then explained that they will take the community’s thoughts into account for this issue before making any changes.

“The recent allegations against Michael Jackson detailed in Leaving Neverland are very concerning,” an LAUSD spokesperson said. “Our top priority continues to be ensuring the safety and well-being of our school communities.”
