EPMD Talk West Coast Influence On Their Music, Opinion On New Artists, Shoe Realese

Erick Sermon And Parish Smith of EPMD check in with Noah Ayala to talk about how they managed to stay together as a duo, the influence of West Coast Music, and how they are still doing shows after 30 years.

Speaking on the West Coast and L.A. influence on their sound, Sermon says:

One thing about EPMD though, people thought that we was a California group. People thought we was from Brentwood, here. Because we are from the suburbs of Brentwood, Long Island. But the music that we made was gang-bangin’ music. We had no idea that the music we was making was LA based.

While the two had their success as the rap duo, both Sermon and Parish address their break up and how they are still touring and have an exclusive Ewing Athletics shoe collab release dropping.

When talking of new rap and hip hop artists, the discussion of categorizing hip hop to include more inclusive genres that represent every facet of rap.
